Homemade Carrot Poriyal Recipe

Course : Side Dish

Cuisine: Indian

Servings: 3-4 pax

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time : 5 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 no big carrot

  • 1/2 tbsp urad dal

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 small onion finely chopped

  • 1-2 curry string chopped

  • 1/4 cup grated fresh coconut

  • salt as per taste

  • some chopped coriander leaves

Method:

  1. Peel, wash and chop the carrot into small cubes.

  2. Boil some water with 1/4 tsp salt, then add the cut carrots and cook for only 3-4 minutes or till slightly soft.

  3. Clean, wash and soak the dal in some water for 5 minutes then drain all the water from the dal and keep aside.

  4. In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil then add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the dal and cook for 1-2 minutes. To it add the curry leaves and chopped onions. Cook on low flame till the onions are pinkish in colour. Add the boiled carrots and salt and fry for a minute. Lastly add the chopped coconut and mix well.

  5. Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.
