Homemade Foxtail Millet Upma Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup foxtail millet
2 nos chopped onions
1 tbsp chana dal
1 tbsp urad dal
2 tsp mustard seeds
1-2 strings curry leaves
1-2 nos chopped green chilles
1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
1/2 lemon juice
some chopped coriander leaves
salt as per taste
Method:
Clean, wash and soak the foxtail millet in 3 cups water for about 30 minutes. Drain and keep the water aside.
Wash and soak both the dals for 5 minutes then drain the water and keep aside.
In a heavy based vessel or pan heat 4 tbsp oil then add the mustard seeds when it splutters fry both the dals for about a minute or two. To it add the curry leaves, chopped ginger, green chillies and onion. Cook till the onions are pinkish in colour.
Add the water kept aside along with salt and then add the millet. Cover and cook on low flame stirring at intervals till the millet is soft. Switch off the flame.
Remove the upma in a serving dish and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves , lemon juice and some ghee on the top.
