Homemade Malai Soya Chaap Recipe

Homemade Malai Soya Chaap Recipe

Course : Starter

Cuisine: Indian

Servings: 500 gms

Marination Time: 45 minutes

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time : 30 minutes

Total Time: 85 minutes

Ingredients:

For Marination 1 :

  • 500 gms or 7-8 soya chaap sticks

  • 2 tbsp chopped /crushed garlic

  • 2 tsp salt

For Marination Paste:

  • 1/4 cup cooking cream

  • 1/4 cup cashewnuts

  • 1 inch ginger chopped

  • 4-5 green chillies chopped

  • 2 nos amul cheese slices

  • salt as per taste

For Marination 2 :

  • 1/2 cup thick hung curds

  • above marination paste

  • 1/2 tbsp kasuri methi

  • 2 tsp white pepper

  • 2 tsp black pepper

  • 1.5 tsp cardamom / elachi powder

  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala

  • salt as per taste

For Garnishing:

  • some coloured capsicum chopped into small cubes

  • some chopped onion petals and rings

  • some chopped coriander leaves

  • 2-3 tbsp cream

  • 2-3 tbsp marination paste

  • 2 tsp chaat masala

  • 1/2 lemon juice

  • 2-3 tbsp butter

Method:

  1. If using the tin soya chaap, remove the soya chaap sticks from the tin . Then wash with water and pull out the sticks slowly and gently squeeze out all the water from them.

  2. Cut the soya chaaps into big round pieces.

  3. Take a bowl add the first marination ingredients that is the chopped soya chaap, garlic and salt then give it a good mix. Keep aside for 15 minutes.

  4. In a pan add 1 cup water then add the cashewnuts and cook till all the water dries and the cashewnuts are soft. Switch off the flame then add the chopped ginger, green chillies, cheese slices and cream in it and keep for 5 minutes till the cheese becomes soft. Allow it to cool then add it in a grinder jar and make a fine paste. Remove and keep aside.

  5. In a bowl beat the hung curds then mix the marination paste, elachi powder, white pepper, black pepper, garam masala, kasuri methi and salt. Then to it add the soya chaap and mix well and keep this marination for 30 minutes.

  6. After the marination time. Heat a non stick pan or griller and grease it with some oil. Then place one by one the marinated soya chaap and brush some butter on them. Cook on low to medium flame till brown in colour then flip and again brush some butter on the soya chaap and cook till golden brown on the other side also. Remove and keep aside.

  7. In the same pan roast the chopped capsicum cubes and onions petals on high to medium flame.

  8. In a bowl add the cooked soya chaap, cream, marination paste, roasted onion petals and capsicum , Give it a good mix then sprinkle some chaat masala, chopped coriander leaves and some lemon juice.

Serve these yummy soya chaap with some onion rings.
