Homemade Podi Masala Recipe

Ingredients:
1/4 cup chana dal
1/4 cup urad dal
1 tbsp tur dal
1 tbs white til / sesame seeds
1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds
1/2 tsp whole pepper
1/4 tsp hing/asefodita
10 -12 curry leaves
8-9 whole red bedgi or kashmiri chilli
1 tbsp peanut or any refined oil
salt as per taste
Method:
With a moist kitchen tissue or muslin cloth wipe all the above dals to remove all the powder/ dirt from them.
Wash and dry the curry leaves and remove the top of all the chillies. Keep aside for future use.
In a heavy pan or kadia heat 1 tbsp oil then add the chana dal and roast on low flame till slightly brown in colour then add the urad and tur dal and again roast them till all the dals are golden brown in colour to it add the til, curry leaves, jeera and whole red chillies. Roast them just for a second .
Remove from flame and allow to cool .
Once cooled add the roasted ingredients, salt and hing to a grinder jar and grind them to a fine powder.
Remove and then store in a dry glass bottle.
Sprinkle this yummy Podi powder on dosas or idlis. Alternatively a little coconut oil or melted ghee can be added to the podi masala and eaten with idli or dosas.
