Homemade Red Spinach and Dal Recipe

Ingredients:
3 bunches red spinach
1/2 cup tur or yellow moong dal
2 nos onion chopped finely
2 nos tomatoes chopped finely
1 no green chilli chopped into big pieces
1.5 tsp chopped garlic
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 whole red chillies
salt as per taste
Method:
Remove the stalk from the spinach leaves. Wash it properly then chop it finely.
Clean, wash and soak the dal in 3 cups water for about half an hour. Then remove the water from the dal and keep the water aside for future use.
In a pressure cooker add the chopped onion, tomatoes, green chilli, turmeric powder, salt , soaked dal, chopped spinach along with 3 cups water which was kept aside .
Close the pressure cooker and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
Open the cooker once the pressure is released. With a hand rai mix the dal and spinach well.
In a small pan heat 1 tbsp ghee for the tadka then add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the chopped garlic and whole chillies and pour the tadka on the dal.
Remove in a serving bowl .
Serve this yummy red spinach dal with rice or chapati.
